Katerina Belkina presents Seasons.
In a particular moment, when the passing of time is perceived to be strongly lazy, the personal exhibition of the artist's works balances our daily feelings, with its anxieties and worries, with the ancient philosophy. The seasons show us a cyclical time, which promises a repetitive and consoling change.
The works speak of our common experience. They open a window towards a more human and nearer time. The personal time of man, the phases of life that follow one another, the experience and the human adventure that unfolds, all this appears to us masterfully presented by Katerina Belkina, told in an ancient and perfectly contemporary language. This way of seeing changes the perspective, it is strongly detached from a linear and progressive thinking.
After the award-winning series "Revival", which we presented in the gallery with the exhibition "Humanism", Katerina Belkina further elaborates her humanistic theme. Her gaze, first focused on the image of herself in the "Empty Spaces" series, in search of a lost personal dimension, passes from a vision of a necessary humanism in "Revival" and the idea of a possible family happiness to the observation that life is dominated by a cyclical evolution of time.
From the chaos of childhood in Early Breakfast, we move on to the maturity of The Dinner, and finally to the calm meditation of Late Supper. This evolution is parallel to the development of the artist's reflection. The energies of the beginning of her career, the time full of promises and opportunities leaves room for a maturity in which she elaborates a strongly social thought. It is a time of choice, of making oneself meat and wine and offering oneself to the world. The goal, finally, will be the calm philosophical vision, the time when the war is over, won or lost, it doesn't matter: all our life is an open book and we discover that all our time, all our running towards progress, the struggle for success, is a circle, a season, just a part of the whole.
