I would like to invite you on Sunday, September 28, at 3:00 PM for the opening of the solo exhibition of Katerina Belkina (born 1974, Samara).
With the photographic series "Not a Man's World" this new artist of the gallery is introduced. Through ten female fairytale characters, portrayed by Belkina herself, she invites the viewer to reflect on the life stories of these heroines—stories shaped by archetypal ideals of love, happiness, and the fate of women. As is common in the world of conceptual art, the titles of the works serve as keys to a deeper layer of meaning:
"Red Riding Hood. Justified Cruelty“, „Mermaid. Sacrifice" "Cinderella. Conclusion“…
The exhibition will be opened by Else-Marie van den Eerenbeemt, writer and lecturer at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Drawing on her expertise as a family therapist, she will explore the layers of meaning in Belkina’s work.
Katerina Belkina will be flying in from Moscow especially for this festive (champagne) opening. We look forward to welcoming you and your art-loving friends!
