PROFOTO NEW TALENT AWARD
powered by Canon, printed by White Wall

Photo projects by international photo talents that have won the renowned PROFIFOTO NEW TALENT AWARD are part of the exhibition program.
Around 9,000 pictures from over 1,000 photographers were submitted to the ProfiFoto New Talent Award 21/1 - 22/1 - powered by Canon. After participants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, entrants from the USA formed the next largest group, followed by photographers from Italy, Russia and Great Britain. But there were also participants from countries such as Peru, Cameroon, China, Iran and Japan, just to name a few. Around 62 percent of the participants were male and around 36 percent female. The youngest entrant was born in 2006, the oldest in 1948.
The jury included the curator of the Oberstdorf photo summit, Christian Popkes, Thomas Alscheid (Whitewall), Lars Bober (laif photo agency), Florian Kussmann and Guido Krebs (Canon) as well as Petra and Thomas Gerwers (ProfiFoto).
The competition is held twice a year by Canon and the magazine ProfiFoto in cooperation with WhiteWall and the photo agency laif. An additional partner is PHOTOPIA Hamburg, where a selection of the NTA winning projects will be presented in October 2022.
The spectrum of the photo projects honored by the NEW TALENT AWARD ranges from reports and intimate insights into the photographers' formative memories to critical views of socially relevant topics. What is needed are concepts that the talents can implement with the support of the competition.
The 15 winners of the current tenders 21/1 TO 22/2 will be presented with over 40 large-format exhibits in the Oberstdorfer Kunsthaus Villa Jaus (Fuggerstraße 7).
