I would like to warmly invite you to the Spring Exhibition "De Heusdengangers". The opening of this exhibition coincides with the performance of the St. Matthew Passion in Heusden, which takes place on Thursday, April 13 at 7:00 PM and Friday, April 14 at 11:00 AM in the Grote Catharijnekerk.
While crowds flocked to the Johannes Vermeer exhibition at the Louvre, two new works by Katerina Belkina were presented in the quiet atmosphere of the Galerie Lilja Zakirova in Heusden. One of these is a tribute to Vermeer titled "Besrat – Good News", a fascinating fusion of "Woman Reading a Letter in Blue" and "The Milkmaid". With this work, Katerina Belkina draws a temporal thread from the Dutch Golden Age to the pulsating life of modern Berlin, where she now lives and works.
Another new work, "Receiving Orders. Salome and St. John", is a contemporary interpretation of the Biblical Apocrypha and the femme fatale motif à la Belkina, as well as a tribute to the Northern Renaissance artist Jacob Cornelisz van Oostsanen.
