International Photobiennial Ostend 2025, 3rd edition
View works
The third edition of the International Photobiennial Ostend celebrates the power and diversity of contemporary and conceptual photography, transforming the Queen of seaside towns into a vibrant stage for artistic exploration. From 6 September to 16 November 2025, visitors are invited to experience a curated trail of thought-provoking works by more than 30 acclaimed and emerging photographers, displayed across indoor and outdoor venues.
Spanning iconic locations such as Fort Napoleon, Mu.ZEE, and hidden gems throughout the city, the biennial offers an immersive journey through the cutting edge of photographic art. Whether indoors or in Ostend's picturesque open spaces, each piece invites you to reflect, discover, and connect with the evolving language of photography in today's world.
Join us for this unique artistic journey that places Ostend at the forefront of the international photographic scene in 2025.

For the third edition of the International Photo Biennale Ostend, curator Stephane Verheye chooses the all-defining theme of LIGHT. Light is the source of every photo. It reveals shapes, suggests depth, draws contrasts and creates emotion. As a technical, symbolic and poetic instrument, light forms the essence of the photographic gaze — it is the matter with which photographers write. Spread over an impressive route from Fort Napoleon to the Anglican Church, more than thirty leading (inter)national photographers present their interpretation of this universal theme.
